Now that cornerback Darrelle Revis is a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, we will finally get to see a head-to-head matchup between Revis and Richard Sherman of the Seattle Seahawks. While they won’t actually be going up against one another during the game, we will get to see which of the two cornerbacks, who are considered by most to be the two best in the NFL, will have a better day.
This epic showdown will take place in Week 9 when the Buccaneers will travel to CenturyLink Field in Seattle, WA to try and do what no team was able to do there last season — get a win. It should be a pretty great game featuring two young teams with great up-and-coming talents, but the focus in this game will likely be on the budding rivalry between Sherman and Revis.
It all started in the offseason when the two superstars engaged in a war of words via Twitter, but it certainly has started an ongoing debate over which is the better cornerback. It’s tough to have that discussion since Sherman was named first team All-Pro last season, and Revis only played in two games because of an ACL injury.
This season, and more specifically this game, should be a decent indication of which player is better since they will likely be trying to out-play one another.
The only unfortunate thing is that they play the same position and can’t directly play each other — or can they? Sherman did play a some wide receiver in his college days at Stanford. Perhaps Pete Carroll will let him line up at receiver for a few plays to go at Revis. With the Seahawks, you never know.
