2013 NFL Draft: Florida State QB E.J. Manuel Claims Philadelphia Eagles Want Him Pretty Bad
The 2013 NFL Draft is less than 24 hours away from beginning and there’s still plenty of questions surrounding what the Philadelphia Eagles will do after finishing last year with a disappointing 4-12 record. However, when it comes to Florida State quarterback E.J. Manuel, he believes he may have a good chance of ending up with the Eagles.
When asked about Philadelphia’s interest, Manuel simply responded by saying, “They want me pretty bad”–which is a bold statement for any rookie entering this year’s draft. There’s been plenty of questions surrounding the Eagles and what they may do with their first-round pick considering how many different areas they have in need of improvement, but whether or not they would use the fourth pick on Manuel is a different story.
Manuel still has plenty to prove when it comes to being an effective quarterback at the NFL level and there’s a good chance other quarterbacks like Geno Smith or Matt Barkley may be selected before him. Unfortunately for Philadelphia though, they may be placed with a difficult decision if they really are interested in Manuel considering the chances of him being gone if he gets selected in the first round.
The Eagles will need to figure out who their quarterback will be once the Michael Vick era finally does come to an end and a quarterback like Manuel seems like a good fit for Chip Kelly’s offense. With the draft set to begin on Thursday, it will be interesting to see where Manuel lands and whether or not the Eagles are as interested in him as the quarterback claims they are.
