The San Diego Chargers apparently aren’t ready to give up on Philip Rivers yet. Either that or they’re already getting ready to protect a new passer after they drafted Alabama offensive tackle DJ Fluker with the No. 11 overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft. Fluker was the fourth offensive tackle and the sixth offensive lineman selected in the top 11 picks. Needless to say, those positions are extremely deep this year and all the teams are wising up and fortifying their offensive lines early.
The Chargers’ offensive line has been atrocious the past couple of years and adding a former BCS National Champion from a program like Alabama is a great way to change that in the coming seasons. Fluker should protect Rivers well regardless of which tackle position he mans from day one because he’ll definitely be an opening-day starter as a rookie.
