2013 NFL Draft: Will the Arizona Cardinals Go With an Offensive Lineman in the First Round?

(Mark J. Rebilas/USA Today Sports)

Last season, expectations for the Arizona Cardinals were high at the beginning of the year after jumping out to a 4-0 start–only to win just once over the next 12 games and finish the year with a 5-11 record. There are numerous areas in need of help if this team will have any chance of bouncing back in 2013 and as tempting as it may be to select a quarterback at No. 7–it looks like the Cardinals hope to land a talented offensive lineman instead.

Believe it or not, this year’s draft class is filled with plenty of talented offensive lineman between Luke Joeckel, Eric Fisher, and Lane Johnson–all of which will most likely be selected in the top 10. In fact, there’s a good chance the Kansas City Chiefs will select one of these lineman with the top pick–which shows just how talented this year’s class is.

Of course, when looking at Arizona’s situation, they just hope they will be in the position to draft one of these talented lineman and as much as they don’t want to hear it–their best bet may be Johnson considering Joeckel and Fisher will most likely be off the board by then. The Cardinals could certainly use help at the quarterback position for the future, but when looking at the offensive line last season–there’s no question that needs to be the team’s top priority heading into the draft.

If there’s a solid lineman available at No. 7–let’s hope the Cardinals get one of the top prospects they were hoping for.
