2013 NFL Draft: 6th Round WR Cobi Hamilton is a Steal for the Cincinnati Bengals

I think this pick is unanimously hailed as a great steal. Former Arkansas Razorback wider receiver Cobi Hamilton was drafted with the 197th pick in the sixth round of the NFL Draft. Stuck at the back of a depth chart of excellent wide receivers for his first three years, Hamilton did not get his opportunity to prove that he is an excellent receiver until his breakout senior year, when he caught passes totaling 1,335 yards and five touchdowns. Even while at the end of the depth chart, Hamilton was able to show his skill by putting up over 500 yards in both his sophomore and junior years. With 18 career touchdowns already under his belt, Hamilton will make the ideal candidate for a developmental receiver and possibly a future depth chart topper with the Cincinnati Bengals.

It’s been made quite clear at this point, what with the Bengals waiting until late in the draft to draft a receiver, that Mohamed Sanu will be the Bengals WR2 next season. Sanu finally came alive in October of last year, scoring four touchdowns in three games before requiring season ending surgery to repair a fracture on his foot. But if he can keep up that kind of performance next season, then there is no way that people are going to be able to stop the Bengals offense.

Hamilton runs crisp roots and is extremely talented at making tight turns up the field, catching the ball and stiff arming any small cornerbacks in the process. His biggest issue, however, and this is something that Andy Dalton will need to be aware of when passing him the ball, is that he sometimes drops even the easiest of passes. So throwing the ball right to his chest is a must.
