The Houston Texans are the favorites in the AFC South for the upcoming NFL season, but they should not believe that they have the division won already. The Indianapolis Colts have built an extremely talented team around Andrew Luck and are capable of ousting the Texans at the top.
Luck will improve drastically from his performance last year, even though it wasn’t that bad for a rookie quarterback. He’s the type of player that will only get better with time. He’s got the football intelligence and the throwing ability to be one of the next extremely successful quarterbacks in the NFL.
The Colts are also solid on defense this season. Their defense was relatively young last season which is part of the reason why they lost in the first round of the playoffs to the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Baltimore Ravens. This year, the defense will be experienced and have a little bit of depth that was brought in with the draft.
Houston has a habit of getting a bunch of hype around their potential and then having a disappointing year. If the Texans stay true to their disappointing mantra, this is the season that Indianapolis will move past them in the AFC South. Houston cannot afford to underestimate the Colts.
Expect Indianapolis to have a better season than last year and get back to the winning ways that they experienced with Peyton Manning at quarterback. Maybe with a bit of Luck they will be able to advance deeper into the playoffs.
