Dansby and the Cardinals have agreed to a one-year deal and for a team that finished with a disappointing 5-11 record during the 2012 season–this was a great move by Arizona if they’re going to have any chance of competing in the NFC West next season. The Cardinals certainly had some questions surrounding the linebacker position and it was quite a surprise to see the Dolphins release him–so Arizona knew they had to do whatever it takes to convince him to come back for the 2013 season.
The fact that Dansby drew interest from numerous teams shows he still has plenty of gas left in the tank and it will be interesting to see what type of impact he can make with the Cardinals next year. Last season, Arizona appeared to have one of the league’s top defenses at the beginning of the season as they jumped out to a 4-0 start, but things quickly took a turn for the worse as they only recorded one win over the rest of the regular season.
The potential is certainly there for the Cardinals to bounce back in 2013 and now that Dansby is back on board–it makes their chances even better. The NFC West is arguably the toughest division in football and there’s no question Arizona should consider themselves lucky for landing a defensive star like Dansby.
