When it comes to rookies from the 2013 NFL Draft, all eyes will be on the San Diego Chargers next season as fans will be anxious to see whether or not the addition of Manti Te’o will pay off. There were plenty of questions surrounding whether or not the Chargers made the right decision by drafting Te’o in the second round of the 2013 NFL Draft, but the team officially signed the former Notre Dame star on Thursday–which means there’s no looking back at this point.

Say what you want about Te’o, but the truth is he is certainly worth the risk for San Diego considering how much potential he had a few months ago. Despite everything that happened with the hoax involving the fake girlfriend, the Chargers knew what Te’o was capable of as a linebacker as he was one of the top players in the country for most of the 2012 season.

Forget what happened in the National Championship and at the NFL Combine–the truth is Te’o knows what it takes to be a leader and has plenty of potential at the pro level. For a player that was once considered a top-five pick, San Diego knew they needed to trade up and take a shot at Te’o in the second round of this year’s draft considering how much help they needed on defense.

If anything–it will be interesting to see whether or not he can make an impact as a rookie and if the Chargers ended up with one of the top steals of this year’s draft.
