Oakland Raiders Make Offer to Charles Woodson
Charles Woodson’s agent Carl Poston also told me the #Raiders just sent him an initial offer for Woodson as well.

There you have it. The Oakland Raiders have made an offer to free agent defensive back Charles Woodson. Along with the Raiders, the Denver Broncos and Carolina Panthers have shown interest in Woodson.
With Woodson’s previous statement of his desire to play for a playoff contender, it seems he will inevitably get that wish after a severely silent off-season. Oakland and the Panthers will have to outbid arguably the best team in the AFC in Denver for his services.
When Woodson opened his market to include “rebuilding teams”, I absolutely thought the Raiders should jump on him and block the other safety needy teams in the division. Sure enough, just hours after a confirmed visit to Denver, the Raiders made an offer.
At 36, Denver is an ideal spot for the veteran. Heading to meet the Broncos staff on Wednesday, it seems the only way for either Oakland or Carolina to land Woodson would be to wow him with a contract. Seeing that the Raiders still have to finalize rookie contracts, plus having a younger Usama Young (28), I wouldn’t count on Oakland bending their back financially for Woodson.
Many Raiders fans, including myself, are drooling to see Woodson wear the No. 24 again for the Silver-and-Black. He would help create an incredible defensive secondary and be a mentor to the younger players around him.
Oakland’s G.M. Reggie McKenzie has been able to pull off a few good moves already in 2013, but bringing on Woodson would be the icing on the cake of a very successful off-season.
I see Woodson having a ceiling of around $2 million and that may be generous considering his injury issues in 2012. If he returns to the Raiders, that’s a huge win for the front-office.
