Star Philadelphia Eagles running back Lesean McCoy is as mercurial of a talent as there is in the league, but what’s catching the public’s attention nowadays are his “activities” off the field. A few months ago he got into a Twitter spat with one of his ex-girlfriends over child custody and what kind of father McCoy was. The back and forth on Twitter did not look good at all for the star talent’s image.
The man they call “Shady” is very befitting of some of the actions he has displayed recently. Just yesterday allegations came out that he had thrown a woman off of a party bus that was headed from Philly to New Jersey. The woman claims McCoy assaulted her and then tossed her off of the bus. McCoy, his lawyers, and his representatives vehemently deny the woman’s claims stating that she is looking for a quick buck. While this may in fact be the case, as we have seen before with high profile athletes the fact is “Shady” McCoy must stop putting himself in situations and predicaments where he exposes himself to such trouble. When Shady’s head is in gear he is easily a top five back in the NFL, but he needs to realize he is a role model to the city of Philadelphia and around the globe and act accordingly.
The Eagles and new Head Coach Chip Kelly (known as a players coach but can be a disciplinarian when called upon) will not continue to tolerate McCoy’s antics off the field regardless of how talented of a player he is. Hopefully this is the last time McCoy makes the front page for something other than his football accomplishments, and in the future he is the main headline for a different reason.
