Will Carson Palmer Help Larry Fitzgerald Bounce Back With Arizona Cardinals in 2013?

When looking back at the 2013 NFL season, one of the things that sticks out the most about the Arizona Cardinals was how awful their situation was at quarterback. The team made the right move this offseason by parting ways with Kevin Kolb after realizing how much of a poor investment it was to acquire him from the Philadelphia Eagles two years ago.

Now, the team hopes the addition of Carson Palmer will help turn things around in 2013 and if any player should be excited about the change at quarterback–it should be Larry Fitzgerald.

For a player considered one of the league’s top wide receiver, Fitzgerald displayed one of the worst seasons of his career last year as he finished with just 71 catches for 798 yards to go along with four touchdowns. While these numbers may not seem that bad at first, keep in mind Fitzgerald broke the 1,400-yard mark in three of the previous five seasons heading into the 2012 season–so it’s easy to see why he was frustrated last year.

Palmer should consider himself lucky for the opportunity to play alongside a wide receiver as talented as Fitzgerald next season and if these early signs are any indications of what to expect next year–these two could be in for a big year in 2013. Of course, only time will tell when it comes to whether or not this move will pay off for the Cardinals, but at least one thing is certain–which is Palmer is certainly an upgrade from any quarterback on Arizona’s roster last year.
