Detroit Lions: Who to Follow on Twitter

Mike Carter-USA TODAY Sports

Twitter has produced some interesting moments when it comes to NFL players. For some reason, they seem to not have great filters when it comes to deciding what and what not to put out there in the realm of social media. Luckily for fans, all they have to do is follow them to make sure we don't miss a moment of the tomfoolery.

The Detroit Lions have--or have had--some Twitter all-stars on their roster, including Reggie Bush and his 2.8 million followers, Ndamukong Suh and his relentless tweeting, and last but not least Titus Young, who made sure he let the Lions know they would miss him when they saw him in the Hall of Fame in another team's jersey. That is, after he goes to jail of course.

It is a lot easier for an organization to keep tabs on players in the locker room and on media days, but it is impossible to keep an athlete from their own phone. That said, it is almost impossible to monitor what an athlete puts out in the public when they can share a message with millions of fans and members of the media instantaneously.

While some of the bigger name players are the most obvious ones to follow, a lot of the real gems come from the lesser known players who have full control of their own social media profiles, rather than being controlled by a public relations person. Check out this list of the top Lions worth following on Twitter.
