It will certainly be interesting to see Wes Welker suit up with a different team in 2013 after the wideout decided to leave the New England Patriots this offseason and sign with the Denver Broncos instead. The good thing about Welker is he goes from one future Hall of Fame quarterback to another as he’ll be catching passes from Peyton Manning now instead of Tom Brady–which is why he could be in for another big season in 2013.
There’s no question Welker has been one of the league’s top wide receivers over the last couple of seasons as he’s caught at least 111 passes in four of the last five seasons on top of 1,300 receiving yards in three of the last four. Welker is arguably the most dangerous wide receiver in the league when it comes to playing in the slot and not only should he benefit from playing with Manning, but Demaryius Thomas and Eric Decker as well. With these three players on board, it’s safe to say the Broncos will arguably have the league’s most dangerous trio at wide receiver–especially when it comes to Welker.
With the way things turned out in New England, Welker will be playing with an extra chip on his shoulder all season as he will look to prove to the Patriots he was worth the long-term deal he fought so hard for. There’s a reason why Welker’s managed to find so much success over the last five seasons with the Patriots and he should be in for another big year in 2013.
