San Francisco 49ers: 5 Players Facing Make-or-Break NFL Seasons in 2013

The San Francisco 49ers fell short of winning the Super Bowl against the Baltimore Ravens in a game that saw momentum swing for both teams. The 49ers will be disappointed that they lost, but they should be confident that they can make a trip back to the Super Bowl this upcoming season.

Once again, San Francisco will rely on Frank Gore to pound the ball inside and rack up huge numbers for the team. Gore is the best player on the 49ers, and his production is necessary if they are to make another Super Bowl run. Expect San Francisco to do what it does best – long, physical possessions coupled with tough defense that lead them to victory.

The 49ers should easily make it to the NFL playoffs. They return most of their talent from last year, and they even added better players to their roster in the offseason. San Francisco is well equipped to return to the Super Bowl, and it will be a surprise if they do not make it at least to the NFC Championship. Expect the 49ers to cruise through the regular season.

The problem with a good team is that they start looking to be better. Players who were seemingly essential for the Super Bowl run begin to be unnecessary as the team moves forward. Every player on this San Francisco team (except Gore) will have to improve or there is a chance that they will be replaced.

Here is a list of 5 players for the 49ers who will be facing a make-or-break NFL season in 2013.

James showed his talent with a couple key runs in the playoffs last year. He’s got the ability to be at least a backup and can prove his worth this season.

No. 4 Kendall Hunter

Hunter will be battling James for the backup running back position. If he has a down year, expect James to step forward and take his spot.

No. 3 Tarell Brown

Brown had a great year at cornerback last season. The 49ers rely on physical defense, so he has to produce down the stretch.

No. 2 Anquan Boldin

Boldin has to produce in his first year with San Francisco. Now with the injury to Michael Crabtree, he has to prove he was worth what the team paid.

No. 1 Colin Kaepernick

Kaepernick had an outstanding rookie season for the 49ers, but the rest of the NFL has figured out his game. He will have to throw a lot more this season, and it may be up to Frank Gore once again to carry this team.
