There were plenty of surprises to take away from the 2012 NFL season, but the argument can be made that nobody was a bigger surprise than Andrew Luck leading the Indianapolis Colts to the playoffs. If anything, Luck’s rookie season was supposed to be a rebuilding year after the team finished with a 2-14 record during the 2012 season, but the former No. 1 pick exceeded all expectations in his first season.
Now, those expectations will be even higher for Luck heading into his second season and with the way things have gone so far this offseason–backup quarterback Matt Hasselbeck has been beyond impressed with the quarterback so far.
Hasselbeck has had nothing but praise for Luck with the way he’s looked this preseason as the veteran is entering his first season with Indianapolis. Hasselbeck has played with plenty of impressive quarterbacks over his career, so when he goes and praises a quarterback like Luck–you know it means something.
With the way things turned out last season, the expectations will be even higher for Luck heading into his second year now that the Colts proved last year they have what it takes to compete in the AFC South. Indianapolis knew the potential was there for Luck when they selected him with the top pick in the 2012 NFL Draft and Hasselbeck certainly knows talent when he sees it with the kind words he’s had for Luck this offseason.
Look out–Luck is quickly developing into one of the league’s top quarterbacks and it will be interesting to see how well he performs in 2013.
