Analyzing Miami Dolphins’ 2013 NFL Win Totals, Other Odds
While the Miami Dolphins show many elements of a team on an upswing during the 2013 NFL offseason, not too mention the 2012 regular season, it’s still really hard to get on board with them on AFC East division titled odds at +500.
I could very well see the Dolphins actually advancing further than the New England Patriots in the playoffs this winter, but there’s a reason the Pats are at -500 and it’s because they’ve been a lock to claim the division as long as Tom Brady‘s on the field for a very long time. The no-name gang at receiver and the recently confirmed back surgery for Rob Gronkowksi make this consideration somewhat difficult — but no — status quo has too much history here.
However, while the Dolphins are also tough to swallow at 50-to-1 Super Bowl odds they are rather intriguing at the 7.5 season-win total Vegas is giving them, especially after the first-year of supposed-project quarterback Ryan Tannehill saw Miami finish 7-9. Add in a full regular season and second offseason of experience, and it’s not too crazy to hope Tannehill can jump in the top young quarterback conversations with Andrew Luck, Robert Griffin III and Russell Wilson.
What could end up just as important as Tannehill or the offseason additions like Mike Wallace and Dannell Ellerbe, is the continued ascension to Cameron Wake towards becoming the league’s best edge rusher — if he is not already. At this rate, Wake could begin stealing some of those headlines from Aldon Smith and Von Miller. As terrifying a force as their is on this Dolphins team, and a primary key to their playoff hopes.
