Will Vincent Brown Have a Breakout Year With San Diego Chargers in 2013?

Even though he only recorded 19 catches as a rookie in 2011, there were high expectations from San Diego Chargers wide receiver Vincent Brown heading into his second season in the NFL–especially with Vincent Jackson out of the picture. Unfortunately, a broken ankle prevented Brown from playing at all during the 2012 season, but that doesn’t mean expectations won’t be high for the wideout heading into next year.

Brown may not be as tall as most wide receivers in the league, but his blazing speed makes him one of the most dangerous and it will be interesting to see how much the Chargers use him in his third season. Philip Rivers has proven he can be one of the league’s top quarterbacks when he receives enough protection, but the former first-round pick has struggled a bit over the last two seasons as San Diego has failed to make the playoffs.

At the beginning of each season, it always seems like the Chargers are considered one of the favorites to beat in the AFC West, but things are different now that Peyton Manning has taken over the starting job at quarterback for the Denver Broncos. There are numerous players on San Diego’s roster capable of having a breakout player, but nobody may have a better shot than Brown as he’ll be motivated more than ever to bounce back after miss all of last year.

The Chargers have liked what they’ve seen so far in the offseason from Brown–so let’s hope his success carries over to the regular season once September rolls around.
