As the Cincinnati Bengals move through OTAs and closer to training camp, will be bringing you profiles for many of the team’s players. We’ll focus mainly on new acquisitions, players in position battles, and on any other key players facing pivotal seasons. In this installment for the Bengals, we’ll take a look at starting quarterback Andy Dalton.

Not a lot of people predicted Dalton would lead the Bengals to the playoffs each of his first two seasons, but that’s exactly what he’s done. Prior to the QB’s arrival, Cincinnati had only made the playoffs in one out of the last five seasons. Safe to say, he’s brought new life to the franchise from day one.

Now heading into his third season, expectations are beginning to rise. It’s almost to the point where making the playoffs won’t even be enough. Dalton has raised the bar to the to a level where some people even think the Bengals should be favored to win the AFC North.

I see no reason why the future won’t be bright for Dalton and his team. He has a new weapon to work with after tight end Tyler Eifert was selected in the first round of this year’s draft. Eifert will pair with Jermaine Gresham to form quite the TE duo for the QB to throw to.

Dalton of course has been helped out tremendously by fellow 2011 draft pick, wide receiver A.J. Green. Together, they are one of, if not the, brightest young duos in the NFL today.
