Buffalo Bills Training Camp Profile: C.J. Spiller

All signs point to C.J. Spiller having an absolutely dominant 2013 season. He established himself as one of the most explosive running backs in the NFL last year, and according to both Spiller and the Buffalo Bills new head coach Doug Marrone, his role will only grow from there.

No one can question Spiller’s work ethic, and if one thing’s for sure it’s that C.J. will be doing everything he can to become a stronger, faster and tougher athlete this offseason. His role within the offense is finally unquestioned, as is his dynamic talent. So what personal goals should Spiller be focusing on as training camp looms?

The most important thing Spiller can do in camp is set a tone. He is obviously a fierce competitor, but if Spiller hopes to be the best (an attainable goal, if last year’s stats are any indication), he needs to approach every practice, workout and team activity with unparalleled focus.

This type of competitive spirit will, of course, benefit Spiller’s individual game, but it should also do wonders for the entire Bills roster to see their star offensive player show such dedication to excellence. Bills fans are also tired of rooting for an irrelevant team, and in Spiller, they have reason for hope.

Marrone has put a heavy emphasis on competition and results so far, and his players are rising to the occasion. As long as Spiller stays focused on football and doesn’t get caught up in his own hype, he should be fine. And if he approaches training camp with the right attitude, he should have no problem living up to the hype, and then some.
