Rookie quarterback E.J. Manuel is on his head coach’s good side which is always a good place to be for a first round draft pick. Head coach Doug Marrone has called him the best rookie he’s ever coached. Which might seem to some people as flukey as this is Marrone’s first gig as head coach, however he has been a position coach for the New York Jets and New Orleans Saints before leaving for the college ranks.
“From my standpoint, EJ Manuel has done better (as a rookie) than any of the other organizations I’ve been a part of.”
This will beg the question of who will be the starting quarterback come week one of the regular season? Most experts say that if it’s close between Manuel and free agent acquisition Kevin Kolb, the advantage will go to Manuel due to his sheer upside over Kolb.
Manuel has all the tools to be a successful quarterback in the league as he has the build, the brains, and the “it factor” which is highly desired. And if he is the starter he has no shortage of offensive firepower including C.J. Spiller, Stevie Johnson, Robert Woods and Da’Rick Rogers to name a few examples. Speaking of this offense, if Coach Marrone wants to have an uptempo offense, Manuel is the guy to run it.
What happens with the Buffalo Bills in 2013? It’s anyone’s guess, however a lot of fans are certainly optimistic for the upcoming season.
