Are the Baltimore Ravens Interested in Signing JaMarcus Russell as a Backup QB?

After the Chicago Bears decided not to bring him on board following a tryout last week, it appears the Baltimore Ravens are the next team on JaMarcus Russell‘s list to try out for as the former No. 1 pick continues to attempt his NFL comeback.

While there’s been no official confirmation from the organization, Russell claims that he does indeed have a workout scheduled with the team–which brings up the interesting debate about whether or not he would be a good fit for the defending Super Bowl champions. Russell has done everything in his power to prove to scouts he deserves another shot at the NFL this offseason by getting back in shape and even though he would have no shot at winning the job from Joe Flacco–it certainly wouldn’t hurt to at least consider him for a backup.

Keep in mind there once was a time when Russell was seen as a quarterback with plenty of potential and it never hurts for a team to have a reliable backup–even though Russell still has plenty to prove as a quarterback. It seems like only a matter of time before one team decides to give Russell a shot to compete for a roster spot for the 2013 season and even though it has yet to be confirmed by the organization–it will be interesting to see how this situation between Russell and the Ravens plays out.

If not–Russell will just have to continue that new work ethic he’s taken on this offseason and hope another team is willing to give him a chance before training camp.
