Dallas Cowboys Rumors: Which Cowboys Player Was Injured Today and Could Miss More Time?

Tim Heitman-USA TODAY Sports

The Dallas Cowboys held their first of three June mini-camp practices today and there were some surprises. Dallas was missing some very prominent players for today’s practice and another player poised to make a big splash this season also got injured and could miss more time.

According to multiple reports, wide receiver Dwayne Harris fell to the ground and released a scream that had many observers nervous about Harris’ injury today in practice. Harris limped off the field and did not return to the workout, but good news came soon after.

ESPNDallas.com reports that Harris only suffered a sprained right ankle and that he’s going to attempt to practice tomorrow.

It appears Harris is fine but it’s hard to see him participating in anymore practices during mini-camp since sprained ankles tend to take some time to heal. There is no sense in risking further damage to the ankle and causing a bigger injury that would keep Harris out any longer than a few days. Many Cowboys observers feel Harris is ready to make a bigger contribution to the team and if risking the injured ankle any further would jeopardize his training camp status, then the Cowboys will likely proceed with caution. After all, that’s the way they’ve been dealing with injuries all offseason and it wouldn’t make sense to change now.

Even though the Cowboys report that Harris will attempt to practice tomorrow it is far from a sure thing and the Cowboys might be better off holding him out in order for the ankle to fully heal. While there is certainly optimism that Harris can participate in the rest of mini-camp, no one should be surprised if he can’t practice.

The Cowboys have been extremely cautious with their injuries this offseason, while staying focused on being healthy for training camp and the regular season. Dwayne Harris could be fine for practice tomorrow but there would be nothing wrong with holding him out with an eye towards late July.
