It’s been an interesting offseason for the New England Patriots between parting ways with Wes Welker and all of the surgeries for Rob Gronkowski, but the latest incident involving Aaron Hernandez may be the most interesting one.

Apparently, Hernandez was recently questioned by police who are currently investigating a homicide and there’s a good chance they will end up searching the star pass-catching tight end’s home after a dead body was found near his home. While Hernandez isn’t being considered a murder suspect, the reason for his questioning is due to the fact his name was listed under a rental car that was discovered in connection to the possible homicide.

There’s no reason for any judgement yet, but this is the last thing New England wants to deal with this offseason considering how much of a distraction it is for Hernandez. It’s never good for any athlete when their name is connected to being in trouble with the law, but this is clearly one of the more serious cases.

It will certainly be an interesting next couple of days for Hernandez as more details continue to come out over this case–especially with the rental car being under his name. Hernandez has proven to be a key part to New England’s offense over the last three seasons and the last thing they want to do is see this situation have an impact on the 2013 season–so keep an eye on this story over the next couple of days as details continue to emerge.
