Buffalo Bills Training Camp Profile: Linebacker Nigel Bradham
Second year Buffalo Bills inside linebacker Nigel Bradham didn’t see a lot of playing time until the end of 2012, however, he will have a lot more in 2013. He was drafted in the fourth round last year and was considered one of the better outside linebacker prospects coming out of college and can go sideline-to-sideline, which is highly coveted in the pros.
Besides the skill set he possesses, Bradham also stayed and played all four years of college, so he has a good deal of experience as well, unlike the majority of players that come out after their junior years. Bradham is a big (6-foot-2, 241 pounds), mean and instinctive linebacker who should flourish under defensive coordinator Mike Pettine. Additionally, Bradham will have two rookies in Kiko Alonso and Keith Pough as competition, which will push him to the limit and as a result, make all three better players on the field.
The Bills’ defense this year will be better than last year’s due to new, more modern schemes, not to mention talent level, and Bradham will be one of the reasons why it’ll be considerably better since linebackers were the huge glaring hole last season. Bradham gained fame as a senior while in college while playing for the Florida State Seminoles when he knocked Laron Byrd of the Miami Hurricanes out with a clean shot that was penalized for a personal foul and was ejected from the game.
Will Bradham become the next great inside linebacker in the league? Who knows? But now that he has the best possible coach in Pettine to help him reach that potential, it is certainly possible.
