New Orleans Saints wide receiver Nick Toon has yet to catch one pass in the NFL, but after missing his entire rookie season, he is primed to have a breakout year in just his second season.

Technically, this season will be Toon’s first season after he missed all of last season due to a lingering foot injury. He will likely be the no. 4 wide receiver behind Marques Colston, Lance Moore, and Joe Morgan.

With Toon, in the fold Drew Brees will have yet another weapon at his disposal. Furthermore, the 6-foot-4 receiver would give the Saints another big receiver to play alongside Colston, and the tandem could complement each other nicely.

When the Saints drafted Toon in 2012, they were hoping to get another Colston-like receiver and this year, Toon will get to showcase his skill set. One thing that impressed the Saints with him was his route-running and great hands. He is a great route runner and when you couple that with his size and good hands, it is not hard to see why he could be one of the Saints’ best wide receivers.

This season will take some adjusting for Toon, but it definitely could be a big year for the second-year receiver. Furthermore, it should only help that Sean Payton is back at the helm and the Saints’ offense could return to being the top offense in the NFL. The Saints were hoping when they drafted Toon that they would be getting a star, and Toon will prove to the Saints that he can be that player this year.
