Top 5 Players for Philadelphia Eagles in 2013
Top 5 players for Philadelphia Eagles in 2013
The 2012 season was a disaster for the Philadelphia Eagles and even their most consistent players. LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson both suffered injuries that ended their seasons, and the offense suffered mightily without them. Jason Peters, Jason Kelce, and Todd Herremans also were put on ice for the season as the offensive line suffered one injury after another and it just made it impossible to run an efficient offense with the injuries piling up the way they did.
There were a few bright spots in an otherwise lost season. Fletcher Cox stepped up and showed he could be a cornerstone for the defense moving forward. Brandon Graham, when finally given playing time and a healthy amount of snaps after Jason Babin was released, finally got to show his worth and went on a tear near the end of the season recording four sacks in his final five games while generating consistent pressure on the quarterback.
The secondary was completely overhauled after high priced free agent and trade acquisitions Nnamdi Asomugha and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie played poorly in coverage most of the season and seemed to miss tackles weekly. Coming in are two sure-tacklers in Bradley Fletcher and Cary Williams who aren't afraid to mix it up at the line of scrimmage, and effort will not be an issue for either of these players as they are true scrappers.
The defense and secondary still has some major question marks, and the world is going to see how Chip Kelly's college juggernaut of an offense works in the NFL. No doubt many questions will be answered in 2013 on how this squad is assembled and if it can be a success moving forward. Let's take a look at the 5 best players on the Philadelphia Eagles roster in 2013.
Fletcher Cox looks to assert himself as a dominant player along the Philadelphia Eagles defensive line as a leader on the defense to be counted on every Sunday.
Jason Peters return gives the offensive line a huge boost, and what was a weakness last year looks to be a major strength of the team this season.
Jeremy Maclin is poised to finally have a 1,000 yard season in an offense catered to his abilities under Chip Kelly.
LeSean McCoy should have a monster season both running and catching the football out of the backfield as Chip Kelly loves to feature the running back in his offense.
DeSean Jackson could be the ultimate weapon for Chip Kelly as he has the speed and elusiveness to be lined up everywhere. Watch out for Jackson to have a monster year in this wide open offense.
