From Wes Welker joining the Denver Broncos to Rob Gronkowski‘s numerous surgeries to Aaron Hernandez being charged with the murder of Odin Lloyd, this offseason has not gone down the way the New England Patriots were hoping it would. However, the organization deserves all of the credit in the world for how they’ve handled these situations–especially when it comes to Hernandez.
Obviously, the team has to be extremely careful when it comes to speaking about Hernandez since it’s still under investigation, but that doesn’t mean the media won’t stop asking questions to players about the situation during training camp. Reporters had the opportunity to ask Tom Brady about Hernandez for the first time since his arrest and just as any football fan would expect–the quarterback answered every question in the most professional way possible.
Instead of going on and on about Hernandez, Brady made it clear that despite all of the challenges the team has faced this offseason, they all know the best thing they can do is focus on football and prepare for the upcoming 2013 season. It may not be as easy compared to last year, but there’s no reason why New England shouldn’t be the team to beat in the AFC East once again with Brady under center.
The last thing the organization needs to see happen is this Hernandez case become a distraction to the team–so give Brady and the rest of the players credit for the way they’ve been handling the situation so far.
