San Francisco 49ers’ Ahmad Brooks Feels Terrible About Fight with Teammate
The San Francisco 49ers certainly did not want to be in the news for any bad incidents, such as other teams in the NFL, however, linebacker Ahmad Brooks forced it upon them with his unwise decision. Brooks reportedly struck fellow teammate Lamar Divens in the head with a beer bottle after Divens drove Brooks home following a night of drinking. As violent as the incident appears to be, Brooks reportedly feels terrible about the fight.
“He’s tremendously sorry for what he did,” safety Donte Whitner said, according to the Mercury News. “Anybody would be embarrassed. He’s just going to have to move on and make the right choices from this point on. He’ll be OK.”
Whether he will actually be okay remains to be seen. There have been no fines or suspensions from the team as of yet. Meanwhile, the Santa Clara District Attorney’s office has stated they will not charge Brooks with assault. With that being said, the NFL is still investigating the incident and could very likely hand down some sort of punishment.
“The bad choice he made outside of here, he’s going to have to pay for that, and we don’t know what it’s going to be yet,” Whitner said, according to the Mercury News.
Obviously, it would be a massive mistake if the 49ers or the league did not do something to punish Brooks for his actions. It is incredibly irresponsible what he did and it would be inexcusable to let him walk without any form of formal repercussion. Even if it is just a fine, that at least shows the behavior will not be tolerated.
