As we approach the preseason, teams are starting to get a feel for players that will have big years for their respective teams. One player that has been quite the standout is New Orleans Saints wide receiver Nick Toon, who has been having a strong training camp for the Saints, and what has been so impressive is that he has been doing it consistently.
After missing all of his rookie campaign, Toon is 100 percent healthy and ready to contribute for the Saints. This season, Toon will be competing for one of the starting wide receiver slots and so far, it looks like he has a pretty good shot at it. Furthermore, since Marques Colston has been out dealing with an injury, Toon has gotten even more reps in training camp and continues to be one of the most impressive players on the Saints’ roster.
Next season, Toon could have a breakout year and should really bolster the already impressive Saints’ receiving corps. Drew Brees is a quarterback that likes to spread the ball to all of his receivers and is not afraid to keep feeding the hot hand. Toon should get plenty of touches in his first season of action and should complement Colston and give the Saints another big possession receiver.
Toon should excel as a slot receiver for the Saints and has been playing that position so far in training camp. Come time for the regular season, I think Toon will turn a lot of heads and could be one of the most consistent receivers for the Saints. Toon is ready to make an impact after missing all of last season and you can be sure that he is just itching to finally get on to the field.
