Washington Redskins Need to Beware of New York Giants

Evan Habeeb-USA TODAY Sports

The Washington Redskins are predicted to be an offensive powerhouse in the 2013 NFL season. However, the NFC East will not be an easy division. Not only do the Redskins and the Dallas Cowboys have remarkable offenses, but the New York Giants are bound for a comeback year and will definitely give the Redskins a run for their money, so to speak.

Although the Giants are prone to have horrible seasons, they have still won the Super Bowl twice in the past decade, with victories in 2007 and 2011. Eli Manning, although not the most popular quarterback, must be given the respect he deserves in a conversation about the league’s best quarterbacks.

In reference to his hopes for the Super Bowl in 2013, Manning stated to the New York Daily News, “I am hungry for my third. And as a team, I’m hungry for each player … we’ve got to get back to playing better football. I’ve got to play at a higher level.”

The Giants still have their receiving stars in Hakeem Nicks and Victor Cruz. Both of these players have proven themselves in the past and will be a great help to Manning this upcoming season. The Giants have added TE Brandon Myers, who in 2012 finished as a top-10 TE.

The Giants will place their faith in the RB position to youngster David Wilson being backed up by veteran Andre Brown. Both running backs have demonstrated immense talent — that is if they can stay healthy.

In 2011, when the Giants were the defending Super Bowl Champions, the Redskins defeated them twice. In 2012, the Redskins beat out the Giants to win the division title.

Now, the hype is surrounding the Redskins. Can they pull off another season of victories over the Giants? Probably, but it will not be easy.
