Would Vince Young Be Worth the Risk For Green Bay Packers?

Over the last year or so, Vince Young has been doing everything in his power to try and earn another shot at a quarterback job in the NFL–which he could certainly use after all of the debt he’s built up over the years. Now, it appears at least one team is interested in seeing what Young could bring to the table as a backup quarterback–the Green Bay Packers.

The Packers will bring Young in for a workout on Monday and despite everything that’s happened in his career so far–this may be worth giving a shot from Green Bay’s end. Young hasn’t seen action on the football field since 2011 when he was a member of the Philadelphia Eagles and even at the age of 30, he clearly still has some gas left in the old tank if the Packers are willing to bring him in for a workout.

Say what you want about Young, but when it comes to the backup quarterback position–this move seems like it would be worth a shot for Green Bay. Obviously, Aaron Rodgers will never lose his starting job until he decides to call it a career, but there’s always the risk of players getting hurt in the NFL–especially when you’re a quarterback.

Even if he doesn’t receive any playing time during the regular season, the argument can be made that Young would be a better option compared to B.J. Coleman or Graham Harrell–so it will be interesting to see how things go on Monday. Keep in mind there was a reason why Young was selected as the third overall pick back in 2006 –which is why this risk could turn out to be a high reward if the Packers decide to give him a shot.
