Baltimore Ravens: LaQuan Williams has Standout Performance

With football finally here, the Baltimore Ravens entertained the spirit of competition within the team tonight. Players are not only fighting for their football lives, they are fighting for something more; an opportunity to be the new face of a young rebuilding team who by the way happened to be the defending champions. Tonight, LaQuan Williams presented a dynamic performance worthy of a roster spot.

He started off early by catching the eyes of John Harbaugh by recovering a fumble on a punt. Harbaugh has a special place in his heart for hard workers, especially on Special Teams. Additionally, Williams recovered a blocked punt in the end zone for a Touchdown. After two fortuitous plays by the three-year veteran out of Maryland, one would assume his night would be over. Oh but wait, there’s more.

Williams had to make a statement on Offense as well. Two catches for 32 yards with one being a 21-yard TD grab from Tyrod Taylor. With the WR competition wide open, he has definitely put his name in the running.

I will admit, I am a huge Tandon Doss fan but Williams is the kind of guy that will make you want to root for him. Any player who accounts for two TDs in any area of play is going to turn heads. I am almost certain that when Harbaugh pulled Williams aside after his receiving touchdown, he told him “LaQuan, it is hard work like that, is why I have to keep you on my roster” or something like that. Look for more cumulative exciting plays from this standout Raven.
