Yes, the topic that all Philadelphia Eagles fans are tired of hearing about will finally have closure: the starting quarterback situation. I shouldn’t speak for everyone, but I know I am tired of it. However, I understand its importance, so with that said …
Michael Vick came out swinging. Vick opened up the competition, connecting with DeSean Jackson down the right sideline for a 47-yard score on the Eagles’ first offensive possession. Vick was trying to make a statement early, and he did. He finished up going 4-of-5 for 94 yards and a TD.
Would Nick Foles answser? Yes, he did. Foles engineered a 10-play, 66-yard drive that ended with an eight-yard TD run byBryce Brown. He went 4-ofr-5 for 43 yards during that drive. Foles even ran for a 10-yard gain on that drive. Foles finished up going 5-of-6 for 43 yards.
So yeah, you can basically call it even. Vick played nine snaps and Foles played 12. They both played two series and played well. I will also give Matt Barkley a shout out. He even played decently.
So Mr. Chip Kelly, what say you?
“I think they both played pretty well,” he said to CSNPhilly.com. “It gave me confidence in both those guys. And that’s what you’re hoping happens. I think both those guys rose to the occasion. I was excited about how both those guys played.”
I have a feeling this thing is going all the way to the end of the preseason. Thursday night against the Carolina Panthers at the Linc will be round two. Vick and Foles will likely play one quarter each.
