Tennessee Titans 2013 NFL Preseason Preview

Don McPeak-USA TODAY Sports

The Tennessee Titans are going to the NFL playoffs in 2013. No, I’m not some diehard fan that believes his team is going to win the Super Bowl every year. They just have the players and a schedule that pretty much screams “10 wins.”

The preseason is rarely indicative of what a team will do in the regular season, but every game shows little flashes of what an NFL team is capable of. That’s what the Titans want from the 2013 preseason.

Quarterback Jake Locker is taking a lot of heat from the media and fans for his poor performance so far with the Titans. Who else on the Titans had been underperforming recently? Chris Johnson. Both of them have suffered due to the poor play of the offensive line, and one of the things the Titans really want to see this preseason is how the new OL handles itself.

Some of the other things the Titans want to see are how Bernard Pollard looks with Michael Griffin, how Shonn Greene‘s running complements that of Johnson and how Justin Hunter plays into the offense.

The Titans may have lost their first preseason game against the Washington Redskins, but they got exactly want they wanted out of the game. New Titans’ offensive linemen Andy Levitre and  Chance Warmack played extremely well. Johnson had a 58-yard touchdown run, and Greene had a 19-yard touchdown.

Tennessee still plays the Cincinnati Bengals, the Atlanta Falcons and the Minnesota Vikings in the 2013 preseason. Expect the team to improve a little each preseason game, and expect the battle for those final roster spots to really heat up as it gets closer to the regular season.
