The Jacksonville Jaguars were thrilled to see wide receiver Justin Blackmon practice in full pads after being on the physically unable to perform list due to having groin surgery in the offseason. There is no question Blackmon is a huge part of the offense, which is why it was comforting to see him looking good in practice.
“It’s a great feeling,” Blackmon said, according to Jaguars.com. “I’m just happy to be back out there with everybody practicing and feeling good about it.”
Blackmon hauled in several receptions from quarterbacks Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne. He will have to get used to both signal callers considering the competition for the starting quarterback job is getting fierce. However, for now he must concentrate on absorbing as much knowledge as possible and getting better on the gridiron so he is ready for the regular season.
“I felt great,” Blackmon told Jaguars.com. “Everybody’s done a great job trying to get me back out there. I’ve been in meetings. I’ve been studying. I’ve just been waiting to get out there.”
The Jaguars still have several other players not practicing due to injury. However, it is certainly a huge step in the right direction to get Blackmon back. Even though he has caused his fair share of problems in the short time he has been in the league, he also has proven to be a top-notch wide receiver.
Blackmon caught 64 passes for 865 yards and five touchdowns last season. There is no question he is motivated to top those numbers in 2013.
