Buffalo Bills Preseason Week 2: Minnesota Vikings’ Kyle Rudolph Is the Second Head of Cerberus
Now onto the second head of Cerberus in Minnesota Vikings tight end Kyle Rudolph who is an excellent all-around player as he can be an excellent receiver and is a tough as nails run blocker for elite star running back Adrian Peterson. He has the size a team would want in a tight end as he is 6-foot-6 and weighs in at 259 pounds. With that size and speed combination he can create massive mismatches for opposing team’s linebackers and safeties who are covering him. Last season he had 53 catches for 493 yards and nine touchdowns. Thus far the biggest drawback to his game has been inconsistent quarterback play out of Christian Ponder last season and his rookie year when he also had the services of a rapidly aging Donovan McNabb throwing him the ball.
This match-up for the Buffalo Bills isn’t too dissimilar to last week’s match up against Coby Fleener of the Indianapolis Colts who is also a young, super-athletic tight end who can take over a game seemingly upon request. This will be another call to arms for inside linebacker Kiko Alonso as he made an incredible touchdown saving play against the aforementioned Fleener as he jarred the ball out at the last possible second causing an incomplete pass.
All in all, It should be interesting to see how effective Rudolph is for the Vikings against this new-look defense that seems like a night and day difference from a season ago, but time will tell.
