After much buzz about Tom Brady‘s injury over the past several days, many people wondered how long, if at all, Brady would play. As it turned out, Brady was in the game for roughly the entire first quarter. He did not just hand the football off to his running backs the whole time, either.
Brady completed 11-of-12 passes for 107 yards and a TD, dominating for the New England Patriots. He connected on a strike to slot man Danny Amendola for the touchdown. Brady started off the game scorching hot completing his first 11 passes in a row before overthrowing Amendola for an incompletion.
So much for an “injury” possibly limiting Brady. He showed why he is the best quarterback in the NFL tonight with this performance. Brady put up the numbers he did against a very good defense for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs’ secondary consists of guys like Mark Barron, Dashon Goldson and Johnthan Banks, all of which played in tonight’s game.
Although the Bucs were missing their top cornerback in Darrelle Revis, Brady’s performance was still unbelievable, even if it was just the preseason. If Brady continues to play like he did tonight, perhaps the whispers of the Patriots’ offensive demise will have been a bit premature.
If he plays like this after an injury, maybe he should get hurt more often? (Calm down, Patriots’ fans, it was just a joke.) What did you think of Brady’s preseason performance tonight? Were you impressed that he could play like that coming off of his recent injury? Did you expect that kind of dominance from him tonight?
