New Orleans Saints’ Receiving Corps Will Be Extremely Deep

Kenny Stills and Lance Moore

The New Orleans Saints have an elite quarterback in Drew Brees, and one of the reasons why he is so great is because he makes everyone around him better. For that reason, the Saints are going to have one of the best receiving corps in the NFL. However, there are only so many roster spots for wide receivers on the Saints, and right now the team has a plethora of options for Brees to throw the ball to.

Marques Colston and Lance Moore are obviously locked in as the top two receivers for the Saints, but who will play behind them? It has been said that rookie Kenny Stills is a lock to win the no. 3 receiver position, but there have been other players on the team that have stepped up during the preseason. A few players that come to mind are Preston Parker, Andy Tanner, Nick Toon and Steve Breaston.

There might not even be a debate about the no. 3 receiver had Joe Morgan not gone down with a season-ending ACL tear. However, this is the state that the Saints’ receiving corps is in right now, and if I’m the Saints, I am feeling really good about having so many viable options to play wide receiver. The questions remain though, which players will the Saints keep and which players will they let go?

If it were up to me, I would definitely have Toon and Stills as my third and fourth receivers but after that, it could be anyone. It will ultimately come down to which players finish the preseason the strongest, but no matter who the Saints decide to keep, one thing is for sure: the team will be extremely deep at wide receiver, and that is a scary thing for opposing secondaries.
