5 Undrafted Free Agents That Could Make the Tennessee Titans Roster

Free Agents
Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

Undrafted free agents are some of the most important players in the NFL. Why? Because they are cheap and some of them can eventually become superstars.

The Houston Texans’ Arian Foster and future NFL Hall of Famer Kurt Warner were both undrafted after leaving college and are having – had in Warner’s case – outstanding careers in the NFL.

The Tennessee Titans are lacking a lot of young depth at a few key positions. The undrafted free agent receivers and running backs don’t stand a chance to make the team but could put themselves on the Titans’ or other NFL teams’ radar with a good preseason or training camp performance.

One of these such players in the past was LeGarette Blount. The Titans knew he was a great player but didn’t have any room for him on their roster. He became a starter for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and is now with the New England Patriots.

Other positions such as anywhere on the offensive line, tight end and defensive tackle are in desperate need of a few backups. So, the Titans brought in a lot of players to help fill those needs. The undrafted free agents in these positions have every opportunity to squeeze onto the Titans roster or even the practice squad.

There is nothing better in the NFL than a comeback or a story of someone who worked through adversity to make it in the league. Do the Titans have any undrafted free agents on the team that could be the next big thing?

Here is a list of five Titans undrafted free agents that could make the final roster.

No. 5 Jonathan Willard - Clemson

Daniel Shirey-USA TODAY Sports

He saved a family from a burning car wreck on his way to training camp. You might say he intercepted them from death. Okay, that’s a bad joke, but he’s also a really good linebacker.

No. 4 Oscar Johnson - Louisiana Tech

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Tennessee has had no depth anywhere in the offensive line for a long time. Johnson won’t get much playing time as a rookie, but he could give this team a much needed boost in the future. The Titans cannot afford to let Johnson go.

No. 3 Maikon Bonani - South Florida

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

Rob Bironas will be starting kicker for a few more years, but Bonani is a great pick up. Not only is Bironas getting older, but his contract ends soon and Bonani could be the solution in the future.

No. 2 Stefan Charles - Regina

Jim Brown-USA TODAY Sports

The Titans have a lot of veterans at the defensive tackle position; however, Charles has the type of raw talent to transform into a great player one day.

No. 1 Jack Doyle - Western Kentucky

Robert Mayer-USA TODAY Sports

Doyle has earned high praise from a many of the Titans' coaches. He has all the tools to be great in the NFL.
