Tampa Bay Buccaneers Player Profile: Adam Hayward

Since being drafted in 2007, Adam Hayward and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been through a lot. Through winning seasons and losing seasons, through quarterback changes and coaching changes, and through a playoff loss. That’s right, throughout Hayward’s career with the Buccaneers he has only been to the playoffs once in which they lost to the eventual Super Bowl champion New York Giants.

Now with Hayward’s career continuing into the 2013 season, hopefully he will be able to see a playoff berth along with the rest of the Buccaneers’ coaches, players and fans. With the Buccaneers current lineup, Hayward is the backup linebacker to sophomore Lavonte David, and Hayward has no problem with that. He understands who he is on the team, which is a backup linebacker and a special teams specialist.

I think that Hayward is a great backup to all the linebackers because I know that if anyone of them gets hurt he can immediately step in and take their place. Whether it is outside or inside linebacker, he will be ready.

As the Tampa Bay linebacking corps isn’t looking to be the best this season, I feel that Hayward can share his knowledge of the game to the younger players like Dakota Watson, Lavonte David and Mason Foster who have been in the league only a short time. Nobody should take Hayward’s words for granted as he has played alongside one of the greatest players in Buccaneers history, Derrick Brooks.

Hayward may not have had the greatest statistics in the past and probably won’t in the future either, but he is one of the premiere role players on the Buccaneers roster and he certainly improves the Buccaneers’ chances of winning.
