Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. New England Patriots Defensive Review
Last Friday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers played the New England Patriots. During this game we witnessed the return of defensive end Adrian Clayborn who wasn’t seen much as he played only the first few series on defense. His knee didn’t seem to be a problem even though he played very little.
Other than Clayborn’s return to the field, I thought that the Buccaneers’ starting defense played terribly as Patriots quarterback Tom Brady completely destroyed the Bucs defense the first drive. Since cornerback Darrelle Revis did not return, Leonard Johnson would start in his place and rookie Johnthan Banks started at corner on the other side of the field.
When the Buccaneers played the Baltimore Ravens, I thought that Banks performed well with five tackles in only two series, but this week there wasn’t very much seen of him as he only had one tackle. With the hopeful return of cornerback Darrelle Revis next week against the Miami Dolphins, it will be interesting to see who starts at the other spot.
If Revis does return it should be interesting to see how he pairs up against one of the Dolphins’ newest receivers, Mike Wallace, who was acquired through free agency from the Pittsburgh Steelers. I think that the Dolphins offense has a lot of potential moving forward this season with the progression of quarterback Ryan Tannehill. Tannehill was the eighth pick in the 2012 draft by the Dolphins. I believe he has a bright future ahead of him with the Dolphins. It should be a good match up next week when the Buccaneers travel to Miami
