Hiring Monte Kiffin as Defensive Coordinator

Monte Kiffin
Andrew Weber-USA TODAY Sports

As previously stated, last years' defense was awful. Rob Ryan's complicated schemes proved to be too confusing for this defense. With Ryan’s departure and the hiring of Monte Kiffin, the defense will see a drastic improvement. Kiffin runs a more simple 4-3 defense, and stresses creating turnovers, something the Cowboys didn’t do well with last season.

Giving Bill Callahan Offensive Play Calling Duties

Bill Callahan

As many other Cowboys fans, I never really agreed with the way Garrett managed the offensive play calling. Just last season alone I can think of two games that were lost due to bad game management on Garrett’s part. By giving Bill Callahan the play calling duties, Garret can focus more on managing the game, and Callahan can use his experience to help this offense become more effective.

Drafting Travis Frederick

For the past few seasons, the Cowboys have been working with a patchwork offensive line. Due to the amount of injuries, the line never really developed continuity. When Dallas drafted Travis Frederick, they got a player, who, if he continues to develop, will anchor the offensive line for years to come.

Adding Quality Running Back Depth

Joseph Randle
Ed Szczepanski-USA TODAY Sports

When Demarco Murray is healthy, he is a game changing running back who can break off a big run at any time. Through his first two seasons, Murray has yet to play an entire season, and that has proven to be a problem for the Cowboys. With Murray out of the lineup, the Cowboys' running game has been nonexistent. In an effort to add quality depth behind Murray, Dallas turned to the NFL draft and found Joseph Randle, a running back with a nose for the end zone. With quality depth behind Murray, the offense won't struggle to run the ball if Murray goes down again this season.

Bringing In A Veteran Safety

Will Allen
Ron Schwane-USA TODAY Sports

Signing Will Allen will benefit the Cowboys in two ways. Allen is a player that will bring experience to a position that has been a problem for the Cowboys for the past few seasons. Not only can he step right in and contribute, he will serve as a mentor for the younger safeties on this roster. In my opinion, signing Allen was a quality addition to this roster.
