The Seattle Seahawks are a very popular pick to win the Super Bowl this season, which is why the Green Bay Packers have to be thrilled about playing them for the third preseason game. The third week of the preseason is when the starters get the most work, which means the contest will be a great chance to see where the Packers are at in their progress.
“This will be an excellent challenge for us,” head coach Mike McCarthy said, according to CheeseHeadTV.com.
It is no secret why the game will be nationally televised on CBS. For starters, the Packers and Seahawks are both considered to be contenders to represent the NFC in the Super Bowl. Not to mention, there is certainly some tension between the two teams after last season’s failed call by a replacement referee that cost Green Bay homefield advantage in the playoffs.
The Packers will get a chance to go up against a great quarterback that should prepare them well for what will be coming in Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers. Going against Seattle’s Russell Wilson will be like playing against San Francisco’s Colin Kaepernick. Both signal callers are mobile quarterbacks who are capable of making the necessary throw when in or out of the pocket.
Wilson has proven to be the real deal. Even though he has a big season ahead of him filled with high expectations, there is no question he will be able to handle the pressure.
It will be interesting to see how the Packers stack up with the Seahawks as the contest will prove to be a thrilling game.
