The Pittsburgh Steelers have been in decline in recent years due to a defense that has been aging extremely rapidly. This unfortunately includes one of their leaders in star free safety Troy Polamalu who has had his fair share of injuries where he has been detrimental to his team as he tried so hard to play hurt.  He isn’t the only person that’s been battling more and more injuries every year.

Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has had some serious injuries in recent years including last season where he had a freakish rib injury that could have torn into his heart if done wrong and he had to be shut down for the rest of the season. Additionally, Roethlisberger lost one of his biggest home run hitters in Mike Wallace as he got shown the money by the Miami Dolphins this offseason.

The final place the Steelers have gone wrong is their running game. It is extremely inexperienced with Jonathan Dwyer leading the way who only has had two career touchdowns. In addition, rookie Le’Veon Bell is currently battling a Lisfanc foot injury that will sideline him for the next six or so weeks, and that will greatly slow down his progress as he makes the transition to the NFL.

All in all the Steelers have a lot of problems with their team, not to mention there are younger and hungrier teams in their own division that are seemingly getting a lot better and will eclipse them for years to come.
