New York Jets Make Roster Cuts: Ryan Spadola and Zach Rogers Stay Alive

With the he ups and downs of Stephen Hill, the New York Jets need some reliable receivers, and Ryan Spadola and Zach Rogers are the right men for the job.

Two players who I have been very high on since the beginning of training camp are still on the roster, and that makes me very happy.

Rogers and Spadola, two wide outs who entered training camp, are still on the team, and are making noise. Spadola, who played in 45 snaps against the New York Giants, has done nothing but impress during his short span as a Jet. Rogers has also been doing some good things on the field.

Both Rogers and Spadola play the same role, a reliable “slot-like” receiver. Both have great quickness, good hands and possess all the tools to be a great wide out in the NFL. Both are also competing with the likes of Ben Obomanu and Mohamed Massaquoi for spots on the team – Hill and Jeremy Kerley are safe bets.

Among the players cut Monday, was veteran wide receiver Braylon Edwards, a guy who has been productive in the past, and was thought to have been the veteran role in this receiving core. This release means that the Jets are really high on Rogers and Spadola; they must embrace this opportunity, and play well in the final preseason game to secure a spot.

With the uncertainty of Santonio Holmes, I’d love to see Rogers and Spadola make the team.
