Kansas City Chiefs: Oddsmaker Against Green Bay Packers

Jason Bridge-USA TODAY Sports

The Kansas City Chiefs are 4.5-point underdogs tonight against the Green Bay Packers at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City. The over/under for the game is at 36.5 points. Based upon what I’ve seen so far out of the Chiefs and Packers this preseason, I expect a close-fought, defensive-struggle game. This is based upon the fact that the Chiefs have not given up more than 20 points — 17, 15 and 20 — in three games, and the Packers have not given up more than 17 — 17, 7 and 17 — this preseason.

What really makes this an intriguing play is that the Packers and Chiefs have both had difficulties scoring on offense. The Chiefs scored 26 in the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers, however, they had a kickoff returned for a touchdown in that game. The Packers meanwhile have only two touchdowns in three games and the most they have scored in a game is 17 — outside of that Steelers game, of course.

Also, the third-team quarterbacks are going to play in this game. Tyler Bray, a rookie undrafted free agent out of Tennessee, has had limited time in the games this preseason, but will start for the Chiefs. Look for him to struggle against a Green Bay team that is not going to hold anything back because they want to see their players in game-like situations before making decisions on who makes and doesn’t make this squad. Based upon these facts, the smart play is to go with the under of 36.5. To play it safe, I would buy a point so that you are at under 37.5 just in case the score is something in the neighborhood of 20-17.

With that being said, I believe the score to the game will be 17-10 Packers. Go with the under, buy a point and have fun watching the game.
