Breaking news that will unnecessarily be talked about by sports networks all over the globe, is that Tim Tebow was released earlier today by the New England Patriots.
I don’t know about you but I, for one, am not surprised.
As a New York Jets‘ fan, I know what Tebow can and cannot do and Tebow cannot play quarterback, or any other position for that matter, in the NFL. He just can’t.
Yes, he won the Heisman Trophy in college, but big deal. You know how many former Heisman Trophy winners have done absolutely nothing in the NFL?
You can write a book just on that subject alone.
This preseason with the Patriots, Tebow went 11 for 30 with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Another sub-par performance by the most overrated quarterback the world has ever seen.
Tebow might be a great person who is very kind, friendly, religious and has a great positive attitude, which is why I can see that he can be very easy to root for, but regardless none of those make what he does on the field any better and I feel a lot of fans lose sight in that.
Yes, Tebow is a good man but many good men out there cannot play in the NFL and Tebow is sadly just one of them. He has great speed and agility but that’s about it. He can’t play quarterback at the NFL level and obviously he can’t be a good running back or receiver, because then teams would have converted him to those positions already.
Tebow will be dissected in every single possible way in sports media throughout this whole week probably, as he is their most overrated golden boy, and I am sure some of them will make the Patriots look like bad guys but even I, a Jets’ fan who greatly dislikes the Patriots, know that they made the right move in cutting Tebow and I will not be surprised at all if he never plays in the NFL again.
Harsh words, yes, but sometimes reality is harsh.
