Buffalo Bills 2013 NFL Season Week 1: New England Patriots’ Stevan Ridley Is the Second Head Of Cerberus

New England Patriots running back Stevan Ridley emerged seemingly out of nowhere in 2012 as he had 1,260 yards rushing with 12 touchdowns. Ridley is going into his third year in the league and is looking to have an even better 2013. With the schedule the Patriots have, it is extremely likely.

Ridley is a thicker running back who is looking forward to starting in all 16 games this upcoming season. He is a true north-south type runner who can get into spaces fast, and while he will not blow anyone away with his speed, he will run you over and make you wonder what train just came through.

The best way to stop Ridley and any true power running back is by hitting him early and often in the backfield so his momentum won’t begin to move downhill. This will be one of the main duties for the big uglies on the Buffalo Bills‘ defensive side of the line, including Kyle Williams, Marcel Dareus and Alan Branch, who all have the sheer mass to clog up the main running lanes for opposing offenses’ running backs.

If this group of guys can shut down Ridley, it will force quarterback Tom Brady to become one-dimensional and rely on a passing game with a seemingly whole new cast of characters. His main target, tight end Rob Gronkowski, is still out due to the back and forearm surgeries that he had.
