The New Orleans Saints receiving corps is arguably the best in the NFL and in their Week 1 victory against the rival Atlanta Falcons the offensive firepower was on full display. Drew Brees spread the ball very well en route to his 357 passing yards and two touchdowns. The Saints’ offense proved to be too much for the Falcons and it really hurt them when the Saints unleashed their new secret weapon.
Rookie wide receiver Kenny Stills had a great game in his NFL debut, and the Saints feel very confident with him as their No. 3 receiver. Although Stills only had two catches he managed to haul in 86 receiving yards; very reminiscent of Joe Morgan’s play last season. Stills had one reception for 67 yards and it is evident that he is a legitimate deep threat for the Saints. If Stills can keep up this type of play he will make a big impact during his rookie season.
Stills is a speedster receiver and complements Marques Colston and Lance Moore nicely. The Saints’ receivers are perfect for Sean Payton’s system and Stills is another good receiver that fits in well. Next week, the Saints will square off against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and I think Stills will have another great game.
The Bucs do boast a good secondary that features Darrelle Revis and Dashon Goldson. However, Revis and Goldson will probably be focusing on Colston and Moore and as a result the field should open up for Stills. You can be sure that Brees will find Stills and set up another big play in Week 2. The Saints did a great job scouting the former Oklahoma Sooner and he should enjoy a very successful season with the team.
