Tennessee Titans’ Defense Earns Game Ball In Week 1
Today’s Pittsburgh Steelers and Tennesee Titans game was an ugly game all around, as both teams looked completely lost on offense. In what turned out to be a straight-up defensive battle, the Titans’ defense showed up in a huge way!
The game started off with the Steelers’ defense forcing a safety in the first quarter. The game remained at 2-0 for quite a while, but the score finally left 2-0 in the second quarter when the Titans took a 7-2 lead. The defense took over from there.
My game ball for this game far and away goes to the Titans’ defense as a whole. They held the Steelers to just 195 total yards. They held Ben Roethlisberger to just 21/33 for 191 and one pick, and made him look like a rookie that had no clue what he was doing out there. Big Ben was completely confused all day with what the Titans were doing.
The Steelers’ offense was only able to muster 32, that’s right, 32 yards on the ground. The Steelers’ leading rusher LaRod Stephens-Howling had six carries for 19 yards.
In this somewhat boring game to watch, the Titans defense stole the show without a doubt. They did not allow the Steelers to get into the end zone until there was under two minutes left in the game. It may just be the fact that the Steelers’ offense is not what it used to be, but with the lack of offensive domination in this game, the Titans’ defense stood out.
